A Family Affair
From its creation back in the early 1800's Blacklock Jewellery has been a family jewellery business which had a name for quality. Now more than 175 years later it is still a family jewellery business that makes quality jewellery, however it has been brought upto date through the creation of a website which allows its customers to purchase showcase jewellery and loose diamonds, design a bespoke piece of jewellery, remodel old pieces of jewellery and remount stones.
The tradition began in 1832....
...when Robert March Blacklock, a shipwright from South Shields on the River Tyne, founded Blacklocks Jewellers in Bedford Street, Sunderland. The aim of Blacklocks was to bring to the North of England the opportunity to buy beautiful, refined jewellery. Blacklocks became established as one of the first ‘Diamond Merchants’ in the North of England.
Today, more than 175 years and six generations on, Blacklocks is still family owned and operating out of the North of England and London.
Jewellery is now created to order, refined and finished to the highest possible standards, adhering to the principles upon which the business was founded. We work with you via email, telephone and personal contact to understand your special requirement and fulfil your brief. This way we ensure that the special service that Blacklocks offers is maintained to the high standard that each of our customers deserve.
A passion for design and an empathy for fine jewellery have lead Ralph Blacklock to create blacklockjewellery.com – a website that takes away complexity and gives you enjoyment in the creation of your own special piece of jewellery through remodelling, remounting or bespoke design. We also have a certain number of carefully selected diamonds that we can offer for sale in the 'Our Diamonds' section of the website. 'Our showcase' shows off special collections made in-house that demonstrate some of our design styles and capabilities. These pieces can only be purchased online through this website.
